Information about meI was born at Christmas in the early 1960's in the county of Wiltshire, United Kingdom. My childhood was fairly uneventful. We, my parents and two brothers, moved several times the highlight being a two year stay in Nairobi, Kenya. We all moved to the London Borough of Harrow, when I was sixteen. I started a ten year career in the repair of computerised gaming machines. I studied on a day release basis and I attained several City & Guilds qualifications in electronics and a B/TEC HNC in computer technology. I Started my training as a piano tuner in 1989 at the Royal National College for the Blind located in the city of Hereford. The training course was of three years duration and I left the college with the AEWVH diploma in piano tuning and repairs and the City & Guilds Stringed Keyboard Instruments qualifications. The main focus of the course was the practical aspects of tuning and repairs to grand and upright pianos. However we also studied the history of the piano, piano construction, piano tuning theory and other skills necessary to become a self employed piano tuner and technician. I also had short work placements at the Bentley piano factory in Stroud, Gloucester and at Chappell's Piano Showroom in New Bond Street, London. Since leaving the college in 1992 as a qualified piano tuner technician, I have been working and building up my piano tuning and repairs business in the Harrow, Central London and surrounding areas. I have maintained my contact with Chappell's working on a freelance basis, tuning their range of new Yamaha and Kemble Pianos in their Wardour Street showroom. I am always happy to give friendly and professional advice based on the wealth of knowledge I have accumulated over the many years working as a piano tuner technician. | ||
